چکیده

This study presents the design, implementation, and assessment of a combined passive active flow control technique with aim increasing aerodynamic performance fixed-wing Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs). Power consumption restrictions in MAVs support choice solutions such as use modified (tubercled) wing leading edge. strategy successfully allows to delay mitigate stall but detrimental effects are found at pre-stall operating conditions. In order retrieve lift-generation capabilities baseline pre-stall, subsidiary method making air blowing was designed installed wing. Guidance selection optimum settings provided by experimental computational analyses. The resulting hybrid system demonstrated its effectiveness, thus producing generalized lift enhancements irrespectively attitude

Control of Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicles

Most birds and many insects use periodic wing motion to propel themselves and maneuver. Most conventional flying machines are propelled by rotating machinery, achieve lift through rotating or fixed wings, and are controlled through the production of steady aerodynamic forces produced by rotors or movable wings. Many of the first powered flapping-wing micro air vehicles (MAVs) effectively replac...

Flexible-Wing-Based Micro Air Vehicles

This paper documents the development and evaluation of an original flexible-wing-based Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) technology that reduces adverse effects of gusty wind conditions and unsteady aerodynamics, exhibits desirable flight stability, and enhances structural durability. The flexible wing concept has been demonstrated on aircraft with wingspans ranging from 18 inches to 5 inches. Salient fe...

Computational Aeroelasticity Framework for Analyzing Flapping Wing Micro Air Vehicles

Due to their small size and flight regime, coupling of aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and flight dynamics is critical for Micro Aerial Vehicles. This paper presents a computational framework for simulating structural models of varied fidelity and a Navier-Stokes solver, aimed at simulating flapping and flexible wings. The structural model utilizes either (i) the in-house developed UM/NLABS,...

A piezo‐driven flapping wing mechanism for micro air vehicles

2006). Flapping wing MAVs (FWMAVs) are a class of new conceptual MAVs that take design cues from flying insects in order to achieve a small size (<3–5 cm), high maneuverability and super remote ability (Yan et al. 2015). A FWMAV is expected to work in a variety of confined spaces such as urban canyons, caves, indoors, and jungles that large flying robots can’t be serviceable. To achieve such ta...

Evolving control for distributed micro air vehicles

The general idea of distributed robotics (or multirobot systems) is that teams of robots, deployed to achieve a common goal, can outperform individual robots in terms of e ciency and quality and, in some cases, can perform tasks that a single robot cannot. Consider, for example, Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs), each of which has an extremely small payload capacity. Though individual MAVs may have lim...
